Consenso de huéspedes japoneses

A small, barefoot-friendly wooden inn in the middle of Kinosaki with two private baths that are free on most plans, Tajima beef or crab dinners in private dining rooms and some of the town's highest guest scores — but the house is old, sound carries, there's no lift and no room has its own bath

Kiraku is an 11-room wooden inn on Kinosaki's main street, two minutes' walk from the Goshonoyu and Mandarayu public baths, and it treats the town as its real bathhouse: every guest gets the soto-yu pass. Under a town rule limiting in-house bath size, its own men's and women's baths are small, so the draw is two private baths — Tsuki, a ceramic tub, and Nagare, an iron-cauldron tub for two — free on most two-meal plans booked through the official site or the big booking sites. Rooms are 8–16-mat Japanese rooms or renovated Japanese-Western rooms with twin semi-double beds; you walk the tatami and carpet barefoot because there are no slippers. Most recent evidence comes from booking-site reviews: guests rate it 4.62 across 1,922 reviews on Rakuten Travel, which gave it a Gold Award for 2025, and 4.8 across 1,778 on Jalan (service and cleanliness both 4.8). One 4travel blogger who stayed in June 2023 called the private dining room 'paradise' after a beef dinner of shabu-shabu, steak and meat sushi. Reviewers from 2025–2026 praise the cleanliness of the refurbished rooms, kind staff, generous dinners of Tajima beef, abalone and nodoguro (crab from 7 November) and the convenient location. The complaints are about the building: no lift to second- and third-floor rooms, steep stairs and lots of steps, sliding doors and voices heard late at night (March, September and October 2026), no views, and thin futons. A March 2026 guest found dinner rushed and dishes lukewarm. Two-meal plans run from about ¥12,000 to ¥28,000 per person in autumn and ¥22,000–42,000 for crab in winter.

Guía para elegir habitación

Recomendadas

  • Japanese-Western rooms (washitsu plus twin semi-double beds), especially the 3F two-room type

Recently renovated, with a tatami room and two semi-double beds; a September 2026 family found the two-room third-floor type spacious — it seemed like a room for six, and an April 2025 guest praised separate air conditioners and air purifiers in each room. A one-room version on the third floor and a second-floor version exist. On one booking site's winter crab plans they cost about ¥2,000–3,500 more per person than the old-style rooms. Bright shoji woke one guest early.

  • Second-floor rooms ('2階客室' room types), for anyone who struggles with stairs

There's no lift, so the inn sells second-floor Japanese and Japanese-Western rooms as separate room types — book one of those if stairs are a problem; otherwise rooms are assigned and you can't request a particular room or a street-side view.

Mejor evitar

  • Old-style Japanese rooms (8–16 mats) and the 'leave it to us' (omakase) room type

The cheapest choice, and the inn assigns the room; 2025–2026 reviewers mostly found them clean and refurbished but mention thin futons and zabuton, a noisy extractor fan, rooftop-only views and late-night sounds through the wooden building. No room in the inn has its own bath — only a toilet and washbasin.

La cocina a fondo

Consenso sobre el desayuno

4.4/5

A set Japanese breakfast (not a buffet) in your private dining room at 8:00 or 8:30 — an April 2026 guest listed grilled nodoguro, squid sashimi, a soy-milk hotpot, nameko soup and lots of rice accompaniments; coffee follows. Mostly praised, though one March 2026 guest's hotpot had gone out and cooled before they sat down

Book a private-bath slot when you reserve (one advance slot per room; 45 minutes, 15:15–23:00), and pick the 17:30 dinner if you want time for a crab course, which takes two to two and a half hours. The soto-yu pass works from 14:00 on arrival day until 13:00 after check-out, and the inn keeps your car and bags from about noon — except on its closing days. Yukata in colours can be rented for ¥880.

Claves de la cena

4.4/5

Kaiseki served in partitioned private dining rooms (sunken kotatsu or chairs) at 17:30, 17:45 or 18:00, ending around 20:00. From April to 6 November the popular plans centre on Tajima beef shabu-shabu and steak, abalone grilled alive and sashimi, with a smaller 'quality over quantity' option; from 7 November it switches to crab courses — live crab sashimi, grilled, boiled, tempura and crab sukiyaki. Reviewers from 2025–2026 repeatedly say they couldn't finish it all. Criticisms: a repeat guest in July 2026 found it simpler and pricier than before, a March 2026 guest felt hurried with hot dishes going cold, and an extra grilled crab in February 2026 came out steamed rather than charcoal-grilled.

Onsen y bienestar: la realidad

Tipo de agua

Kinosaki's sodium-calcium chloride spring (neutral, high-temperature), the same water as the town. A major Japanese booking site lists the inn's baths as having water added and being recirculated and filtered — not free-flowing.

Privacidad y ambiente

Two small indoor baths (men's and women's, swapped, 6:00–23:30), kept small by Kinosaki's rule on in-house bath size, and two private baths on the second floor: the ceramic Tsuki (2–3 people, ¥1,650) and the iron-cauldron Nagare (2 people, ¥1,100), free on two-meal plans booked through the official site, Rakuten or Jalan. Every guest gets a pass to the town's public soto-yu; four are within five minutes. Guests describe the indoor bath as quiet and soft, though one January 2026 guest found the last private-bath slot a little cool and a December 2025 guest was told the Rakuten free-bath perk didn't apply.

Advertencias y matices locales

  1. 01

Check-in 15:00–18:00 (last arrival 18:00, or 19:00 without dinner), check-out 10:00. The free inn shuttle meets express trains at Kinosaki Onsen Station; it's a 10–15-minute walk otherwise. Bath tax ¥150 and a ¥280 bathing fee are charged on top.

  2. 02

No lift: all rooms are on the second and third floors up fairly steep stairs, with steps in bathrooms and toilets — several 2025–2026 reviewers with older relatives flagged this.

  3. 03

It's a traditional wooden building, and the inn itself warns that sound carries; three 2026 reviewers heard sliding doors and voices late at night, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

  4. 04

Free parking sits behind the inn along narrow lanes full of people strolling the town — staff will park for you if you stop at the entrance.

  5. 05

Cancellation: 10% from 7 days before, rising to 50% the day before and 100% on the day; some year-end plans charge from 14 days. Room-only and breakfast-only plans are sold on limited dates only and don't include the free private baths.
