Consenso de huéspedes japoneses

Takinoya's small, affordable annex on Noboribetsu's main street: milky free-flowing sulphur water, warm service and a careful multi-course dinner — but the baths are tiny, almost no rooms have a bath, and the building shows its age

Tamanoyu is the annex of Takinoya, one of Noboribetsu's long-established upmarket inns, and bloggers recommend it as a way to get a taste of that house for far less: the same incense in the lobby, Takinoya rice crackers as the welcome sweet in 2022, and simmered tofu at breakfast. It is a separate, 24-room inn in the middle of the onsen street, three minutes' walk from the bus terminal, with its own baths of milky, sulphur-scented spring water — a small indoor bath and outdoor tub for each sex, plus a bookable family bath with its own outdoor tub, all free-flowing (with some water added, according to one booking site). Japanese guests rate it 4.6 across 1,614 reviews on one major site (service 4.7) and 4.50 across 585 on another. Three bloggers who stayed between 2022 and 2025, and dozens of 2026 reviewers, praise warm, attentive staff, spotless floors and a long dinner in the screened-off Hatsune dining room: a tomato seafood hotpot, a choice of charcoal-grilled Noboribetsu pork, Rishiri hokke or chicken skewers, then soft-serve and nama chocolate. The catch is the building and its scale. The baths are small (nearly every reviewer says so), only three rooms have a bathroom, twin rooms look onto a wall, futons are thin, and the building is old. In 2026 guests also reported broken air conditioning in August, dishes laid out before they sat down, lean hokke, thawed sashimi and a grilled course that came late and undercooked. Two-meal stays for two start at about ¥35,200 on one booking site; most 2026 reviewers paid ¥17,000–21,000 per person.

Guía para elegir habitación

Recomendadas

  • 10-tatami Japanese rooms facing the onsen street

Most of the 24 rooms are 10-tatami Japanese rooms (sleeping up to five), with futons laid out for you. Ask for the street side: a June 2026 guest could watch the onsen street from the window, and an August 2026 family watched the Jigoku Matsuri festival from their room — though the noise went on late. Rooms at the back look onto nothing, as a January 2025 blogger found.

  • Two-room type (10 + 6 tatami) with its own bath

Only three rooms have their own bath and toilet; one booking site lists this 16-tatami two-room type with a unit bath, from about ¥44,000 for two with two meals. It sleeps up to six and suits families who don't want to rely on the small shared baths.

Mejor evitar

  • Japanese-Western twin rooms (beds on tatami), and anyone who needs an in-room bath

Guests like the twins' space — semi-double beds, a table and chairs, a smart TV — but in July 2026 the front desk told a guest that the bed rooms have no view, and an October 2026 guest's window faced a building wall a few metres away. Apart from three rooms, none has a bath, and toilets are cramped (a 2022 blogger and a September 2026 guest). Other recent complaints: thin futons (August and September 2026), broken air conditioning replaced by a portable cooler (two August 2026 stays), heating that couldn't be switched off on a warm October night, a fridge that only chills, and a weak hairdryer.

Consenso sobre el desayuno

4.4/5

A Japanese breakfast in tiered boxes with simmered tofu, grilled fish and rice from a wooden tub, plus a small self-serve corner of yogurt, local natto, salad and fruit — widely praised, though a 2025 blogger missed having any dessert

Book a plan that includes the family bath (50 minutes, by reservation) or ask at check-in: a 2022 blogger found a free slot and paid ¥2,700 extra. The shared baths close from midnight to 5:00. Bring the room towels to the bath. The ropeway to the bear park starts up the steep road beside the inn, and the front desk sold one family discount tickets in August 2026.

Claves de la cena

4.2/5

Kaiseki-style dinner in Hatsune, the second-floor dining room, where tables are divided by shoji screens rather than private rooms. Recent menus include a tiered box of starters, sashimi with a salad and house mustard dressing, crab-sauce chawanmushi, a tomato hotpot of seafood and cheese, and a choice of charcoal-grilled Noboribetsu whey pork, Rishiri hokke or (in 2025) puffer; 2026 guests choose between pork, hokke and chicken skewers. Dessert is soft-serve with nama chocolate. Iwamizawa Nanatsuboshi rice, refills free. Reviewers love the variety and care; criticisms in 2025–2026 include tough, fatty pork (the 2025 blogger), lean hokke (two August 2026 stays), thawed sashimi leaking drip (September 2026), most dishes set out before you sit down (September and October 2026), and a grilled course that arrived late and undercooked (June 2026). A guest who mentioned a birthday got a complimentary aperitif and chocolates in May 2026.

Onsen y bienestar: la realidad

Tipo de agua

Milky, sulphur-scented Noboribetsu water (hydrogen sulphide spring) from the town's No. 1 Otsu source, according to a blogger. One booking site lists it as free-flowing with water added; the large bath, outdoor tub and family bath are all free-flowing.

Privacidad y ambiente

One indoor bath with a small outdoor tub for each sex (14:00–24:00 and 5:00–9:30), no sauna, and a family bath with indoor tub and a very small outdoor tub for two, bookable for 50 minutes between 14:00 and about 23:50. The baths are small — about five people inside, three in the outdoor tub — but with only 24 rooms many guests had them almost to themselves. The outdoor tubs can run lukewarm (2022 and July 2026). A 2022 blogger found the family bath water fresher than the large bath.

Advertencias y matices locales

  1. 01

In October 2026 the inn announced that its booking system (Temairazu) may have leaked guest details, and some guests received suspicious messages. It affects bookings made on or before 21 September 2026 for stays from that date on. The system holds no card details, so don't click links in unexpected messages or enter card numbers — contact the inn or your booking site directly.

  2. 02

Check-in from 14:00 (last check-in 20:00 on the official site, 19:00 on one booking site), check-out 10:00. JR Noboribetsu Station is about 10 minutes by taxi or 15 by Donan bus; New Chitose Airport about an hour by expressway bus. Free parking for about 20–24 cars.

  3. 03

Only three rooms have their own bath. Face towels, bath towels and a samue lounge suit are in the room; other toiletries are at the shared baths. Diaper buckets and a milk warmer are available for small children.

  4. 04

Prices seen on a Japanese booking site: from ¥35,200 for two with two meals (10-tatami or twin room), ¥39,500 with a family-bath slot, and around ¥46,000–51,700 for plans with extra dishes or Hokkaido wagyu. Bathing tax and Hokkaido's accommodation tax (¥100–500 per person per night since April 2026) are extra.

  5. 05

The official site still advertises an in-room dinner plan (a solo blogger had dinner and breakfast served in the room in February 2023), but another blogger couldn't find the plan in February 2026 — confirm when booking if you want it.
