Đánh giá chung của du khách Nhật

Kotohira's 223-room onsen giant, five minutes from the Konpira steps: big shared baths, a 50-dish breakfast and corridors full of curios — but the water is recirculated, cheaper rooms feel dated, and it can be crowded and noisy

Kotosankaku is the big one in Kotohira: a 223-room onsen ryokan five minutes' walk from JR Kotohira Station and the foot of the Konpira-san approach, split between the larger Sansui-kan and the smaller, pricier Hiten-kan, whose guests get a tenth-floor open-air bath, Yakumo-no-yu, and their own restaurant, Ichiriki-chaya. Most rooms are tatami, plus 50 compact twins; rooms with private open-air baths were renovated in March 2023, though the inn notes those baths aren't onsen water. 2026 travelogues describe an escalator in the atrium lobby, very long corridors lined with vases, screens and platters, and Sansui-kan's shared baths — billed as among Shikoku's largest, with a garden open-air pool and sauna — as spacious and easy-going. The water is the town's Chikōin spring, a cold radioactive spring that Jalan lists as diluted, heated and recirculated. Japanese guests rate it 4.5 across 5,451 Jalan reviews (dinner and service 4.5, rooms 4.3) and 4.37 across 3,177 on Rakuten. They praise the location (free parking while you climb the 785 steps, walking sticks on loan), the roughly 50-dish breakfast buffet and kind staff. Dinner is kaiseki in partitioned private rooms or, on many plans, a buffet with free-flowing drinks; bloggers liked the sashimi and sea-bream rice, though one found portions small for a non-drinker. Complaints in 2025–2026: musty, dated rooms and a dark, slippery main bath, a 'private' dining room drowned out by a rowdy neighbour, breakfast queues in a packed hall, poor value on the fifth-floor special floor and some brusque staff. Two-meal stays run about ¥30,000–54,000 for two in Sansui-kan and ¥60,000–110,000 in Hiten-kan.

Nên chọn

  • Sansui-kan rooms with a private open-air bath, renovated in March 2023 (4F Japanese rooms, 9F Luxury Twins, 10F Premium Suite)

Six 10-tatami rooms on the fourth floor, three 41㎡ twins with Serta beds on the ninth and an 80㎡ suite for up to five on the tenth, all with their own open-air bath and views towards Konpira-san — but the inn states the room baths are not onsen water. A September 2026 guest bathed a one-year-old in a fourth-floor room's bath, and a July 2026 guest found a third-floor bath room clean and insect-free. A New Year 2026 blogger found an open-air-bath room nostalgic but nicely renovated, with the bath well screened. Jalan rates start around ¥69,000–71,000 for two with two meals.

  • Hiten-kan 12.5-tatami Japanese rooms (some with twin beds)

The step up for access to Hiten-kan's own tenth-floor open-air bath, Yakumo-no-yu, and its private restaurant Ichiriki-chaya; the inn says the 12.5-tatami rooms with beds face Konpira-san. Two-meal rates on Jalan start at about ¥60,000 for two; the fifth-floor special rooms with open-air baths and gardens run about ¥98,000–110,000.

Nên tránh

  • Sansui-kan 16㎡ twins and budget 'outlet' plans

The cheapest rooms draw the complaints: a musty smell in an August 2026 twin, 'below its price' with neighbours audible and an uncomfortable bed in March 2026, and an old unit bath in a Japanese room (August 2026 blog). In March 2026 the air conditioning would only heat until the front desk intervened, and a May 2026 guest couldn't redirect cold air. A May 2026 guest on the fifth-floor special floor felt it wasn't worth the price — key handed over, no help with luggage.

Nhận định về bữa sáng

4.0/5

A buffet of about 50 Japanese and Western dishes in the Seto hall on Sansui-kan's third floor — widely praised for variety (2026 reviewers single out Greek yoghurt with honeycomb and whitebait), but the hall gets crowded and one May 2026 couple queued while larger groups were seated first

Booking on the official site adds a ¥500-per-person in-house credit on two-meal plans (up to ¥3,000 a room), loan walking shoes for the shrine climb and free stays for co-sleeping children. Park free before check-in and after check-out while you climb Konpira-san. A 2026 blogger extended check-out at ¥2,200 an hour (to 12:00 at the latest). Go to breakfast early or late to avoid the queue.

Điểm đáng chú ý của bữa tối

3.9/5

Sansui-kan guests eat kaiseki at Midō, in partitioned or private rooms with sunken kotatsu seating, or a Japanese-Western-Chinese buffet with free-flowing drinks on many plans; Hiten-kan guests eat at the Ichiriki-chaya restaurant. 2026 bloggers praised fresh sashimi, tender meat and sea-bream rice in a private room, though one non-drinker found the kaiseki small and asked for a rice tub. Critics: a 'private' room that was only partitioned, with a drunken party next door (February 2026), sashimi that wasn't fresh (June 2026), a crowded buffet (May 2026) and a plain, unseasonal kaiseki (October 2025).

Onsen và thư giãn: thực tế ra sao

Loại nước

Kotohira-chō Chikōin Onsen, a simple radioactive cold spring according to the official site; Jalan's listing describes the baths as diluted, heated and recirculated with filtration — not free-flowing. The in-room open-air baths are not onsen water.

Sự riêng tư và không gian

Sansui-kan's ground-floor baths, Konpira-no-yu and Kabuki-no-yu, have several tubs, a garden open-air bath and a sauna (5:00–9:30 and 15:00–24:00, swapping men and women in the morning); bring the bath towel from your room. Hiten-kan guests also get Yakumo-no-yu, a tenth-floor open-air bath with views (5:00–10:00 and 15:00–24:00, bath towels provided). No private (kashikiri) baths. Bloggers found the main baths roomy and relaxing even with ten people in; critics in 2026 found them dark, the floor slippery or slimy, the sauna closed early in the morning and the cold plunge lukewarm. A crowd-check app helps time a visit.

Lưu ý và những điều tinh tế

  1. 01

Check-in 15:00, check-out 10:00. Free pick-up from JR Kotohira Station by reservation (12:00–19:00); 200 free parking spaces, usable before check-in and after check-out.

  2. 02

A big, group-oriented house: 223 rooms, a 400-tatami banquet hall, karaoke, an izakaya and a game corner. Expect tour groups and some noise — partitioned dining rooms don't always block it.

  3. 03

Which wing you book matters: Yakumo-no-yu and Ichiriki-chaya are for Hiten-kan guests only, so check the building named in your plan.

  4. 04

Konpira-san's main shrine is 785 steps up; the inn puts it about 45 minutes on foot. Reviewers mention walking sticks on loan, and official-site bookings include loan walking shoes.

  5. 05

Co-sleeping children stay free on official-site bookings; the inn has announced a change to the age range for its children's facility fee from 1 March 2027, so check current terms.
