Đánh giá chung của du khách Nhật

A big, friendly inn at the very top of Ikaho's stone steps, with its own door onto the steps and both of Ikaho's springs in the large baths — but the water is heated, partly recirculated and disinfected, the one free-flowing private bath has been shut since a June 2026 earthquake, and dinner divides opinion

Fukuichi claims 440 years in business: the Fukuda family that runs it settled in Ikaho around 1582 and was among the 14 families holding the town's hot-spring rights by 1629, and Yokoyama Taikan, Saitō Mokichi and Kawabata Yasunari stayed at the prewar inn. Today it's an 83-room complex — the Manyōkan (1983), the Senjukan (rebuilt 1991) and the Western-style Kotohogi annex — climbing the hillside so that a door on the Senjukan's 19th floor opens onto the top of the stone steps. The draw is that the large baths offer both of Ikaho's springs, the brown 'golden' Kogane-no-yu and the clear 'silver' Shirogane-no-yu, with towels, a shampoo bar and skincare laid on, plus free drinks and sweets in the lobby. Japanese guests rate it 4.2 across 1,502 reviews on one major site (baths 4.5) and 4.29 across 1,732 on another. Travelogues from 2023 to 2025 and recent reviewers praise the location, warm staff (surprise celebration sake and red rice), roomy 12.5-tatami rooms with mountain views and the breakfast buffet's seafood bowls. The catches: the inn's own bath data shows the large baths heated, partly recirculated and disinfected; the only free-flowing private bath, Fuwari, has been closed since a June 2026 earthquake; and the Forest Suites' garden baths aren't onsen. The building is a maze, Senjukan rooms are a long walk from the baths, and 2026 reviews mention check-in waits of up to 30 minutes, dusty or worn rooms in older wings and disappointing dinners (food unlike the photos, cold rice, slow pacing); a 2023 travelogue called both meals bad. Two-meal stays run about ¥19,000–30,000 per person, and Forest Suites from about ¥39,600.

Nên chọn

  • Forest Suites (フォレストスイート) on the Manyōkan's 4th floor, with a private garden bath

Four rooms opened in February 2023: 12.5 tatami plus a sitting area, twin Japanese-style beds and a private garden with an open-air bath; the Premier version adds a second room. The inn states the garden baths are not onsen, though the tub is kept full of hot water around the clock — an August 2026 guest loved bathing at any hour, and a September 2026 guest used it more than the large baths. Dinner is guaranteed in a private room. A June 2026 Premier guest found the bath far from the shower room and the room too hot despite three air conditioners. Plans start at about ¥39,600 per person.

  • Manyōkan Wa-Modern rooms (和モダン客室), for short walks to the baths

Eight mountain-side rooms in the building that holds the front desk, large baths (3F), private dining rooms (7F) and breakfast hall (8F); the Deluxe type has flat tatami to the window and Yogibo cushions. A March 2025 travelogue enjoyed the Yogibo and mountain views, and an August 2026 family found the room clean and spacious and the private-room kaiseki 'more lavish than expected'. Manyōkan plans start at about ¥30,250 per person.

Nên tránh

  • Senjukan standard rooms and the Kotohogi annex — the cheapest and 'room assigned on arrival' plans

The 12.5-tatami Senjukan rooms are roomy with mountain or stone-steps views, but they're in a separate building reached via an 8th-floor link with escalators and no lift — an August 2026 family couldn't take a luggage cart through, and a guest with limited mobility struggled with stairs. 2026 reviews also report a dusty room with hair and no escort (August), torn shoji and a holed sheet (April), a slow basin drain in a garden-terrace room (April) and a gloomy Kotohogi wing with a creaking door (August); a July 2023 travelogue found the washbasin and toilet dated. The three concept rooms on the Senjukan's top floor (26F) have the widest views.

Nhận định về bữa sáng

4.1/5

The 'Shunsai Kenbi' buffet in the glass-walled Reihō dining hall on the 8th floor (about 7:00–9:30), with views to distant peaks: seafood bowls, eel, dashi chazuke, Jōshū home cooking, house-baked bread and desserts — widely praised, though a February 2023 travelogue found some dishes 'business-hotel-like', an October 2023 one called it bad, and 2026 guests wanted fresh fruit rather than fruit in syrup, and better coffee

Don't navigate to 'Fukuichi': the inn warns sat-navs send you to the stone-steps entrance, so enter map code 94 875 154*84 or search 'Fukuichi parking' — one July 2026 driver spent 25 minutes finding the car park. Book on the official site for 50% off the private baths and 10% off drinks or the shop (two-meal plans only). Free luggage lockers let you explore the steps before check-in, and the Shikisai late-night noodle bar (Senjukan 19F, 20:00–23:30, irregular closures) serves ramen.

Điểm đáng chú ý của bữa tối

3.8/5

Manyōkan guests get the 'Manyō creative kaiseki' in private dining rooms such as Shunraku (7F); Senjukan and Kotohogi guests get the 'Jōshū taste kaiseki' at chairs and tables in a shared, widely spaced Japanese dining hall. Both open with house plum wine and feature Gunma's okkirikomi noodles; travelogues describe Akagi pork sukiyaki (March 2025) and wagyu sukiyaki with grilled kinmedai (February 2023), and an autumn 2026 plan pairs beef and crab in an okkirikomi hotpot. Many reviewers find it generous and tasty, but an October 2023 travelogue called the sukiyaki too salty to eat, and 2026 complaints include food unlike the plan photos, ready-made-looking starters, slow pacing, a pork hotpot served with cold rice for porridge (a September 2026 guest says warm rice is now offered too) and crab with little meat.

Loại nước

Ikaho's Kogane-no-yu ('golden water'), a calcium-sodium sulfate-bicarbonate-chloride spring (neutral, hypotonic), plus the clear Shirogane-no-yu ('silver water'); the inn says both are in the large baths. Its posted bath data lists the indoor and outdoor baths as Kogane-no-yu with no added water, heated (the outdoor bath constantly), a mix of free-flowing and recirculated, and disinfected. The private baths Yurari and Sarari use Haruna tap water; only Fuwari ran 100% free-flowing Kogane-no-yu, and it has been closed since the 16 June 2026 earthquake with no reopening date. The Forest Suites' garden baths are not onsen.

Sự riêng tư và không gian

Two large baths on the Manyōkan's 3rd floor, Fuku-no-yu and Ichi-no-yu, each with indoor and outdoor tubs and a sauna, swap between men and women (15:00–1:00 and 5:00–10:00; sauna to 24:00 and 5:00–8:00). Towels are stocked in the changing rooms, with a shampoo bar of a dozen-plus brands and skincare. Many guests found them uncrowded, but the outdoor tub fits about four, the cold plunge one, and 2026 reviews mention hair on the changing-room floor and a mouldy bath chair. The paid private baths on the 6th floor (book by phone) are Yurari (up to 28 people, ¥15,000 for 60 minutes) and Sarari (up to 3, ¥2,000 for 45 minutes).

No policy found on the official site or Japanese booking sites — contact the inn. The paid private baths and the Forest Suites' own baths avoid sharing.

Lưu ý và những điều tinh tế

  1. 01

Check-in 15:00 (last 22:00), check-out 10:30, varying by plan. Check-in gets busy — two July 2026 guests waited around 30 minutes, and a September 2026 couple reached their room close to 16:00.

  2. 02

The whole inn closes on set days, including 26 October, 16, 25 and 26 November and 14–17 December 2026 and several dates in January and February 2027 — check before planning.

  3. 03

It's a sprawling, maze-like complex of three buildings on a slope; guests with limited mobility should ask for the Manyōkan, as Senjukan routes involve escalators and some stairs, and the inn also hosts banquets and groups.

  4. 04

Underground parking (about 50 spaces) is free; when it's full staff may take your keys and move your car. By bus, take the highway bus from Shinjuku (about 2h40) to Ishidan-gai or the bus from Shibukawa Station (about 30 minutes), then phone for a pickup.

  5. 05

Children are welcome: there are plans with half-price primary-school rates and free co-sleeping, children's meals, baby goods and a kids' corner — but a September 2026 family said a teenager on the adult menu found little to eat.
