Đánh giá chung của du khách Nhật

A 300-year-old pilgrims' inn of six retro tatami rooms where you check in and out at noon and lock either bath for yourself, free — but the spring is heated and recirculated, the tubs are small and most rooms share toilets

Kinokuniya Jinpachi traces some 300 years of history as a lodge for ascetics climbing Mount Ōmine; a bath-guide site says its name was granted by Tokugawa Shigenori, eighth lord of Kii, and the present wooden building went up after Dorogawa's great fire of 1954. Today it's a six-room, deliberately old-fashioned house of tatami rooms from 8 to 50 mats, engawa corridors and paper lanterns, run by an owner whose puns and local tips turn up in review after review. Two things set it apart: check-in and check-out are both at noon, so you can stay up to 24 hours, and both baths — a semi-open garden bath and an indoor bath — can be locked for private use free of charge at any hour except 16:00–19:00, when they alternate by gender. Independent blogs are scarce, so most recent evidence comes from booking-site reviews: Japanese guests rate it 4.3 across 829 reviews on Jalan, with dinner at 4.6 and breakfast at 4.5 but baths and cleanliness at 4.0. They praise spring-water tofu, wild-boar hotpot with no gamey smell, duck hotpot, venison and river fish, and a solo blogger in February 2026 loved watching the snowy garden from the bath. The trade-offs are real: the inn's own page lists the 29°C spring as heated and recirculated; the tubs are small and guests sometimes queue for the newer one; rooms have no bath and most have no toilet (shared toilets can be two floors away, and several were out of order in November 2025); footsteps carry through the old building; and in July 2026 the baths were shut until 16:00 for maintenance. Two-meal stays run about ¥14,000–29,000 per person.

Hướng dẫn chọn phòng

Nên chọn

  • A second-floor room facing the main street

The windows look down on Dorogawa's lantern-lit street — a November 2025 repeat guest missed this view after being put on the third floor, and a March 2026 guest enjoyed watching the street from the room. Rooms run from 8 to 50 mats and groups get several connected rooms: a September 2026 family had four rooms totalling over 32 mats, joined by a tatami corridor.

  • Hanare (はなれ), the detached room

A quiet, traditional hideaway just beside the main building and the only room type the inn lists with its own washlet toilet. A bath-guide site lists it from ¥25,000 per person against ¥18,500 for the main-building rooms. It has no bath, so you still use the shared baths.

Nên tránh

  • Main-building rooms, for light sleepers and anyone unsteady on stairs

No toilet, washbasin or bath in the room. The inn says the shared Western-style toilets are 3–15 seconds away, but a September 2026 guest found the women's toilet two floors below, several were out of order in November 2025, and two 2026 guests found them cramped. The inn itself warns that its old building 'makes some noise': in 2025–2026 guests heard footsteps from distant rooms and rattling windows, and found the stairs hard going. A May 2026 guest was bothered by a fly in the room.

Nhận định về bữa sáng

4.5/5

A many-dish Japanese breakfast with miso soup made from the inn's spring-water tofu, served in your room or a private room — consistently well rated

Arrive near noon: a September 2026 guest who turned up at 17:00 regretted missing the afternoon in the lantern-lit town, and with noon check-out you can keep bathing the next morning (that guest went in five times). Dinner is set fairly early, so go light at lunch. The free car park (30 spaces, first come) is a walk away, but staff drove guests to their car in the rain and moved one car before snow; chains are on hand from November to mid-March. Ryūsenji temple, three minutes away, is the owner's after-dinner tip.

Điểm đáng chú ý của bữa tối

4.5/5

Served in your room or a private room. When booking you choose a spring-water yudōfu course, a kaiseki, duck hotpot (featured on Kansai TV's 'Yō-i Don!') or botan-nabe of wild boar, each with a grade-up version. Guests in 2025–2026 praise individual boar hotpots with 'no gamey smell', venison roast or tataki, iwana sashimi and salt-grilled ayu, homemade kuzumochi on arrival and generous portions; a vegetarian in a November 2025 group got a separate vegetable menu, and miso broth was switched to soy on request (March 2026). Celebrating guests have been given wine. Criticisms: dried-out hotpot vegetables (July 2026), a duck hotpot 'I could have had at home' (November 2025), a short dinner slot during the September 2026 holidays, and sake on the sweet side.

Onsen và thư giãn: thực tế ra sao

Loại nước

Dorogawa's shared low-temperature simple spring (29°C, pH 8.29, weakly alkaline), distributed to the inns by the local association. The inn's own bath page and its Jalan listing describe it as heated and recirculated-filtered; a third-party bath guide lists a mix of free-flowing and recirculated water — either way, not fully free-flowing.

Sự riêng tư và không gian

Two small baths — a semi-open-air garden bath and an indoor binchōtan-charcoal bath — open 24 hours. From 16:00 to 19:00 they alternate between men and women in 90-minute slots; at all other times you hang the 'in use' sign, lock the door and bathe privately as often as you like, at no charge. Guests love the soft, silky water and winter snow views, but the tubs are small, the semi-open bath felt cold until you were in the water (March 2026), trees hide the sky, and the older indoor bath is dim, so guests queue for the other one. A July 2026 guest found both closed until 16:00 for maintenance.

No policy found on the official site or Japanese booking sites — contact the inn. Both baths can be locked for private use.

Lưu ý và những điều tinh tế

  1. 01

Check-in 12:00 (last arrival 22:00), check-out 12:00 — up to 24 hours at the inn. No room has its own bath, and only the detached room has a toilet.

  2. 02

Without a car: 80 minutes by Nara Kōtsū bus from Kintetsu Shimoichiguchi, with fewer buses in some seasons; some plans include a transfer to Tenkawa Daibenzaiten shrine.

  3. 03

Not barrier-free: stairs throughout the old building, and a bath-guide site lists the inn as not wheelchair-accessible.

  4. 04

In winter rooms are heated with stoves and kotatsu, and futons are warmed with charcoal-briquette foot warmers (mametan anka) — cosy, though one November 2025 guest found theirs too hot.

  5. 05

Holidays cost more: a September 2026 holiday stay ran ¥28,000–29,000 per person against ¥14,000–25,000 on other nights, and a bath-guide site lists a ¥1,500 supplement on nights before days off.
