Đánh giá chung của du khách Nhật

Nyuto's easy option: a modern 38-room resort lodge with two free-flowing springs, an outdoor bath in the beech forest, Akita buffets and the bath-hopping bus at the door — comfortable and easy to book, but short on old-inn atmosphere

Kyukamura Nyuto Onsenkyo is the odd one out among Nyuto's seven inns: a 38-room lodge in the Kyukamura chain of 35 resort lodges, set in beech forest inside Towada-Hachimantai National Park. Formerly called Kyukamura Tazawako Kōgen, it opened in 1965, according to a 2026 travel blog, and stay reports describe it as modern and spotless — 'not a hidden spa at all', one solo traveller wrote in December 2024. What it offers instead is ease: a bus stop at the door, the Nyuto bath-hopping bus out front, rooms that can be booked online, and two free-flowing springs under one roof — a lukewarm sodium bicarbonate bath and a hotter, milky simple-sulphur spring that also fills the outdoor bath in the trees. Japanese guests rate it 4.5 across 797 reviews on one major site (baths 4.8) and 4.51 across 566 on another. Reviewers in 2025–2026 praise the water, snow and starry skies; a dinner buffet of Akita dishes, with kiritanpo and mountain-yam hotpots ladled by staff and tempura fried to order; rice with Hinai-jidori egg at breakfast; free 24-hour drinks; and staff who lend towels and bear bells for bath-hopping. Two-thirds of the rooms are tatami and yukata are fine everywhere, but this is not an intimate ryokan: meals are buffets in a shared restaurant, there are no private baths, and the indoor sulphur tub holds about three people. Recent complaints include fewer buffet dishes than before, overflow seating on busy nights, rooms showing their age, a long walk to the baths, horseflies at the outdoor bath in midsummer and one 'poor value' verdict. Expect about ¥18,000–23,000 per person with two meals.

Hướng dẫn chọn phòng

Nên chọn

  • Japanese rooms — 8 tatami (14 rooms, up to 3) or 10 tatami (9 rooms, up to 5)

The standard choice, with a Washlet toilet and washbasin (bathing is in the shared baths). The inn says the 8-tatami rooms face west, so the beech forest glows at sunset; the 10-tatami rooms suit families. October 2026 guests slept well on the futons' Airweave mattresses. Most 2026 reviewers paid about ¥18,000–21,000 per person with two meals.

  • Western twins (17.8㎡, 10 rooms) and twins with bath (20.8㎡, 3 rooms) — good for solo travellers

Two single beds; the standard twins are step-free, and the three larger twins take an extra bed for a child. Solo travellers are often given a twin: a December 2024 guest found a second-floor twin 'incredibly clean', with an air conditioner and toiletries usually found only in shared baths, and a January 2026 guest found the boiler heating warm. Solo plans ran about ¥20,000–21,000 in 2026.

Nên tránh

  • Any room, if you expect a traditional inn

Only the three larger Western twins have their own bath, and none is described as an onsen bath. Several 2026 reviewers found the rooms showing their age, one July 2026 guest scored rooms and facilities 2 out of 5, a May 2026 guest was given slippers with peeling soles, and a July 2026 guest found the building so large that the baths felt far away. The two 'Japanese twins' are tatami rooms with beds.

Nhận định về bữa sáng

4.4/5

A Japanese-leaning buffet of about 20 dishes (7:00–9:00, last entry 8:30): Akita Komachi rice with raw Hinai-jidori egg, stone-pot pork miso soup, Inaniwa udon, omelettes made to order, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and a much-praised egg pudding, eaten facing the beech forest

Buy the Yumeguri-chō bath-hopping pass at the front desk (¥2,500, cash only, sold only to guests of the Nyuto inns, valid for a year): one bath at each of the seven inns plus unlimited rides on the Yumeguri-gō bus, which stops outside. Guests can borrow bath towels for bath-hopping free of charge, leave luggage before check-in and after check-out, and use the baths from 11:00 on arrival day; staff also lend bear bells for walks. A free 24-hour drinks corner has coffee and soft drinks, and some evenings there's a guided stargazing walk at 20:30.

Điểm đáng chú ý của bữa tối

4.3/5

A buffet of about 40 Akita dishes (17:30–20:30, last entry 19:30): kiritanpo hotpot and mountain-yam hotpot with plenty of seri, which staff ladle out; tempura fried to order; sashimi, roast beef, grilled ayu and iburigakko with cream cheese; and seasonal dishes such as junsai in summer and hatahata in winter. Staff bring pizza and other dishes to the tables, and you can take dessert back to your room; a two-night guest found the menu changed. Add-ons include bear-meat sukiyaki (¥4,500) and Akita Nishiki beef sukiyaki or steak (¥3,500). Complaints: a repeat guest felt the number of dishes shrinks each year (September 2026), others found the choice small or 'shabby' (May and August 2026), busy nights push diners to overflow tables outside the restaurant, and on a busy December 2024 night some guests had to wait for a table.

Onsen và thư giãn: thực tế ra sao

Loại nước

Two springs, both described by the inn as free-flowing: Nyūtō-no-yu, a brownish, lukewarm sodium bicarbonate spring (large indoor tub), and Tazawako Kōgen-no-yu, a hotter, milky simple sulphur spring (small indoor tub and the outdoor bath); guests may add cold water to the hot tub. A switch of the sulphur baths to a new simple spring, announced for November 2023, has been postponed.

Sự riêng tư và không gian

Men's and women's baths are identical, each with the large Nyūtō-no-yu tub (about 10 people), the small Kōgen-no-yu tub (about 3) and an outdoor bath (about 6) linked to the indoor bath and surrounded by beech forest; a June 2026 guest noted no daily swap. Open from check-in to 24:00 and 5:00–9:00. No private baths. There are free lockable lockers, and kasa hats keep your head dry in falling snow. Day visitors come 11:00–15:00 (¥800). Complaints: early mornings can be crowded, horseflies make the outdoor bath hard to use in July and August, small insects gather at the outdoor bath, and a July 2026 guest cut a finger on mineral crust on the edge of the Nyūtō-no-yu tub.

Lưu ý và những điều tinh tế

  1. 01

Check-in 15:00, check-out 10:00. Phone bookings open six months ahead at 10:00, online bookings from midnight the next day. Cancellation for groups of up to 30: 20% from 7 days before until the day before, 50% on the day or for no-shows.

  2. 02

Getting there: the Ugo Kōtsū Nyūtō line from JR Tazawako Station stops at the door (about 45 minutes, ¥820, roughly hourly); there's no shuttle. The shared Airport Liner taxi from Akita Airport costs ¥6,700 and must be booked by 17:00 the day before. Free parking for 100 cars; snow tyres are needed from mid-November to late April. On the way back, the bus can fill up at the Alpa Komakusa stop used by Tsurunoyu guests — leave time.

  3. 03

This is a big, modern resort lodge rather than a traditional ryokan: buffet meals in a shared restaurant, no in-room dining, no private baths, and about a third of the rooms are Western-style. Yukata and slippers are fine everywhere, including the restaurant.

  4. 04

Bears live in the surrounding forest: staff lend bear bells, and an August 2026 couple stayed in rather than walk the beech woods. Horseflies are a nuisance in midsummer.

  5. 05

In winter the bath-hopping bus switches to a winter timetable: Kuroyu closes from mid-November to mid-April, and a November 2025 guest had to walk 20 minutes through snow to Magoroku. Children are well catered for, with kids' yukata, children's buffet dishes and evening activities.
