Đánh giá chung của du khách Nhật

Hoshino Resorts' tea-themed inn on Lake Hamana: every room looks over the water, there are a dozen-plus teas to brew for free and an eel-and-fugu dinner — but the salty spring is recirculated in two small baths, and most rooms have only a shower

KAI Enshu opened in November 2013, when Hoshino Resorts renovated the baths and lounge of its earlier inn here, Hananoi, and relaunched it under the KAI brand. Every room faces Lake Hamana, and the theme is Shizuoka green tea. A striped courtyard of tea bushes and azaleas sits below the rooms, tea-leaf incense burners scent the corridors, and a lakeside lounge lets you brew any of a dozen-plus teas for free. Each room also has a tea counter with an iron kettle and three teas for arrival, bedtime and morning. The inn closed from January to April 2026 for maintenance. It reopened on 28 April with a new 89 m² suite with its own open-air bath, and now has 36 rooms. It rates 4.6 across 1,110 reviews on Jalan, with cleanliness at 4.8, rooms, dinner and service at 4.7, and the bath lowest at 4.4. Bloggers who stayed from 2024 to 2026 loved the free tea-tasting quiz, the 'ochake' tea cocktails poured at 21:00 and the tea-box breakfast. Dinner pairs Lake Hamana eel, simmered sukiyaki-style, with fugu from the Enshū coast. One 2024 blogger found the food merely ordinary, and an August 2026 guest found the eel smelled fishy. The two shared baths are small, with one indoor and one outdoor tub each. Jalan lists the very salty spring as diluted, heated and recirculated. July 2026 guests found insects in the outdoor tub, and a January 2026 guest found the indoor bath cold. Standard rooms have a shower only. Some guests also call the building old and not barrier-free. Standard rooms run from about ¥69,300 for two with meals.

Nên chọn

  • Chagomori Special Room (89 m², new in April 2026) or the Special Room (68 m²)

The only rooms with their own open-air bath. The Chagomori suite opened on 28 April 2026 and is the inn's largest room. It has a sofa lounge, a choice of 10 teas and 5 kinds of teaware, and a bath pillow and tray so you can drink tea in the tub. It starts at about ¥115,500 for two with meals on Jalan, and the 68 m² Special Room at about ¥108,900. In September 2026, one guest found plants placed in front of their room's open-air bath blocked the lake view.

  • Japanese-Western room with lake-facing beds (45 m²)

The best value for a lake view from bed, from about ¥82,500 for two with meals on Jalan. A family who stayed in August 2025 chose this type. A blogger who brought both parents in June 2025 used the 40 m² four-person version. It has three beds plus a sofa bed and cost ¥88,362 for the room with two meals. The rooms are styled with Enshū cotton, a striped local weave.

Nên tránh

  • Standard Japanese-Western room with tea counter (35–36 m², 2 guests)

The cheapest room (from about ¥69,300 for two with meals on Jalan) is comfortable, and every room faces the lake. But like most rooms it has a shower booth and no bathtub, so you rely on the small shared baths. A May 2024 blogger paid ¥95,700 for two in this room type. One December 2025 guest noticed a smelly cushion, and a November 2025 guest found the toilet noisy at night.

Nhận định về bữa sáng

4.5/5

The 'tea-box breakfast': grilled fish, whitebait and pickles packed on a bed of tea leaves in an old wooden tea chest, with a clam-and-aosa seaweed Lake Hamana soup served by the pot — widely praised, though one 2024 blogger found the portions modest. A Western breakfast is available (not 1–3 January)

Arrive by 15:00 for the free tea-tasting session (four sittings from 15:00 to about 17:00), then the hot-spring talk at 16:35; late arrivals in 2025 and 2026 missed one or both. Book the 17:30 dinner if you want sunset over the lake — a July 2026 guest who was given 19:30 regretted it. Free 'ochake' tea cocktails are poured in the lounge at 21:00. You can take tea leaves from the lounge back to your room.

Điểm đáng chú ý của bữa tối

4.3/5

Served at 17:30 or 19:30 at lake-view tables or in semi-private rooms screened by shoji. The year-round 'fugu-una' kaiseki starts with white-grilled eel and includes fugu sashimi and fried fugu. The main is 'unasuki', eel and vegetables in a small hotpot eaten with an onsen egg; in 2025 it ended with a matcha affogato whisked at the table. In autumn and winter (15 October 2026 to 28 February 2027) a full tiger-fugu dinner costs ¥12,400 extra and must be booked five days ahead. Bloggers in 2025 enjoyed the eel and the affogato. One in June 2025 found a piece of fried fugu was nearly all bone and missed the clay-pot rice served at other KAI inns. An August 2026 guest found the eel smelled fishy, and a May 2024 blogger called the food fine but unsurprising. Allergies must be declared five days ahead; dislikes are not removed.

Onsen và thư giãn: thực tế ra sao

Loại nước

Kanzanji Onsen, a sodium-calcium chloride strong-salt spring according to the official site — one of the saltiest in Japan. Jalan lists it as diluted with water, heated and recirculated with filtration. Guests describe the water as warming but on the lukewarm side, and a January 2026 blogger was advised to rinse off and moisturise afterwards.

Sự riêng tư và không gian

Two shared baths that swap between men and women in the evening and morning (until 1:00 and again from 5:00). 'Koto-no-yu' has a hinoki indoor bath and an outdoor tub facing a garden. 'Hana-no-yu' has a large round hiba-wood outdoor tub with baskets of Shizuoka tea leaves floating in it. Each side has just one indoor and one outdoor tub, and Jalan lists no sauna. You reach them along a roofed outdoor walkway past the tea field, which is cold in winter. Three teas are set out in the changing rooms, and the lounge outside offers ice lollies and mikan vinegar. In 2026, guests mentioned a slippery outdoor floor, insects in the outdoor tub at night in July, and an indoor bath cold enough in January to worry about heat shock.

Quy định về hình xăm

Hoshino Resorts doesn't ban tattoos outright, but its group policy, linked from KAI Enshu's bath page, says staff may refuse use of the large bath if they judge other guests could feel afraid. Only the two special rooms have their own open-air bath.

Lưu ý và những điều tinh tế

  1. 01

Check-in 14:30, check-out 11:00. The inn was closed from 12 January to 27 April 2026 for maintenance (extended from early March), so reviews from before the April 2026 reopening may not reflect current rooms.

  2. 02

No pick-up: take the Enshū Railway bus from Hamamatsu Station's north exit (stop 1, bound for Kanzanji Onsen) to Hamanako Bay Street, about 45 minutes. By car it's about 10–15 minutes from the Kanzanji Smart IC on the Tōmei; parking is free.

  3. 03

The building is an older hotel renovated in KAI style. A September 2026 guest found the walk to the baths hard for older people despite a wheelchair ramp, and called it not barrier-free.

  4. 04

Children are welcome: under-sevens can share a bed, and there are children's set meals. One dog-friendly room (up to two dogs of 20 kg or less) is sold only on the official site; a July 2026 guest was put off by a dog held in the tea lounge.

  5. 05

Among the major Japanese booking sites it is listed only on Jalan, not on Rakuten Travel or Ikyu, so most Japanese reviews come from that one site.
